Edible Utopia is a creative co-op comprised of artists Clare Patey, Jane Levi, Tim Mitchell, Sophie Mason and resident mycologist Darren Springer whose expertise and vision fuel the project.
The project uses hidden and underused parts of the historic site to grow food including a number of mushroom fruiting chambers in the "coal holes" under the courtyard. As well as visiting these spaces this tour will give an insight into the vision and ethos of the project
Alongside the ongoing experimental growing and collaboration there is a continued programme of workshops engaging young people with the processes of growing and establishing practical skills for use in the sustainable future of our city.
The project will also incorporate our wider cultural programme including collaborating with the creative community of Somerset House and working on projects to improve the overall sustainability of our site.
Please note this tour is drop-in and capacity may be limited if busy. Due to the nature of some of the growing areas some parts of the tour maybe inaccessible to wheelchair users, please do let us know in advance if you have access requirements and we will do our best to accommodate.
