This October we're playing host to a series of events inspired and programmed by artist Bedwyr Williams as part of the Museums at Night programme. These events will reimagine an alternative reality where post-Neolithic druids live on and conduct their chants, traditions and rituals in modern day London.
To celebrate this druidic takeover, Wild Life Drawing will be hosting a special drawing event with animals significant to druid folklore – Hawks, Owls & Snakes. Hawks held great meaning in Celtic mythology; it was believed they carried messages from other worlds and to see one was a sign to "beware and be aware”. Owls signify dual meanings; viewed as both as a protector from evil spirits and an omen of death. Celts viewed the snake as a powerful symbol of rebirth and renewal. - leaving behind its previous form to emerge as a new self by shedding its skin.
