A place to share knowledge, patches and ideas relating to max and visual programming. While this meetup primarily caters to existing users of Max, we encourage those unfamiliar with Max, but with a strong interest in it, to attend and chat with Max users about the possibilities. We recommend bringing a laptop to this event.
Max MSP is a music programming environment that allows to bring together sensors, samples, synthesis engines and video. It is used by sound artists throughout the world, but also by visual artists and in installations. Max MSP is developed and maintained by Cycling’74.
Max MSP is proprietary software but can be used for free for 30 days. Many of the principles of Max are applicable to other visual patching environments such as Pure Data.
If you’ve never heard of it and want to see how it works, there are a few videos to get started on the Cycling'74 Youtube channel.
The meetup is organised by Music Hackspace.
Drinks will be available from the bar next to the entrance to the New Wing of Somerset House.
The venue is located on the ground floor of Somerset House and is fully wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet. If you have any other access requirements, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them.
