The first in a series of special late openings of the exhibition will be an opportunity to view the display and explore the extra ordinary stories shared by the artists, fellows and performers.
Honorary New Fellows the Prints of Whales will commemorate the historic moment in the society’s folklore when in 1881 Leonard Leotard accompanied by 30 carpenters playing the saw, performed “The daring young man on the trapeze” to an enraptured society audience in celebration of the Leotard as an accepted and esteemed gymnastics outfit.
Also new to the Learned Society fellowship is tattoo artist Roofer who will be offering free hand drawn temporary tattoos to attendees inspired by the repurposed everyday objects celebrated by the society.
Alongside the evening’s entertainment guests will be invited enjoy a couple of complimentary drinks from the Royal Society’s Famous Gin Bar and Roofer’s ‘Round the Back’ vending machine, installed for the first time within the exhibition.
