This in-depth and illuminating session will explore a film-making career that ranges from Elizabeth’s time with pioneering Palace Pictures in the late 80s, when British cinema was struggling to make an international impact, through landmark successes such as The Crying Game, Little Voice and Made in Dagenham, and on up to recent releases Their Finest and On Chesil Beach. Special attention will be given to Elizabeth’s ‘passion’ project Carol, directed by Todd Haynes, a film that stands as testament to just how dedicated a producer must be to pursue an artistic dream – and to realise it. Elizabeth Karlsen will be in conversation with Bechdel Test Fest’s Beth Webb.
