This December, we will be welcoming reindeer for a Wild Life Drawing Christmas Special. Famous for pulling Santa’s sleigh, these iconic hooved mammals are used to freezing temperatures and are native to the Arctic and cold mountainous regions across Alaska, Siberia and North America – where they’re often called caribou. The two reindeer visiting us will have their full antlers, as both the males and females of the species regrow their antlers every year.
During the session, the class will be introduced to the reindeer with a talk by their expert handler. We will learn all about their lives in the wild, any current conservation issues facing this species and why reindeer ‘click’ when they walk! The class will be led through a series of fun drawing exercises to start, with plenty of tips on drawing animals from life. All levels of ability are welcome at this class and drawing tutor Jennie Webber will be on hand throughout for any artistic guidance. All drawing materials are supplied, including paper, but please feel free to bring colours or any dry media you might like to use.
