From appliqué and fabric button-making to quilting and natural dyeing, Isabel will explore textile manipulation and the potential of intuitive draping, stitching and assembling.
During this workshop you will consider placement, shape, and stitch to create intricate textile pieces and learn how salvaged food waste such as avocado stones can create rich colours. Isabel will bring samples of naturally dyed fabrics to demonstrate how salvaged food waste such as avocado stones can create rich colours. A takeaway recipe will enable you to try this yourself at home.
Fabric scraps, tools and threads will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own remnant fabrics to use, as well as any existing garment in need of repair or refresh to work on during the session. This workshop is suitable for both beginners and those with sewing experience. Tickets cost £15.
All ticket sales will be donated to the Somerset House Young Talent Fund. This provides bursaries and financial relief to artists, as well as opportunities for under-represented people aged 18-25 seeking to get into the creative sector.
