Imagine a world without clocks and calendars, where our bodies and the environment tell us what to do when. How much of each day do you spend outdoors, exposed to daylight? How long do you sit, staring at a screen? When is the best time of day for working, exercising, napping, daydreaming?

This unique event will run from sunset to sunset and invites you to interact with installations, conversations, performances and recordings. Create your own Uchronia (time utopia) as you navigate cross-site activity, guided by artists, industry experts and exclusive out-of-hours opportunities to view current exhibition 24/7: A Wake Up Call For Our Non-Stop World.

Address the 24/7 culture crisis, unlearn contemporary time structures, unwind the clock. Turn up, tune in, time out, be late, take a nap and awake in a clockless world, with new perspectives on ways of living and being.

About the artist

Dr Helga Schmid is a Somerset House Studios artist based in London. She is the founder of Uchronia, an artistic research practice and platform, which explores the multifaceted nature of time in an academic and cultural context. Helga is Course Leader of the BA (Honours) Graphic and Media Design at London College of Communication and resident at Somerset House. In 2019, she was named as one of London’s most influential people 2019 in Technology AR/VR and in 2018, she was a Designer in Residence at the Design Museum in London. Helga worked as a researcher in the Architecture and Design department at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as Senior Tutor at the Royal College of Art in London and internationally as designer/artist on high-profile projects. Her work has been exhibited and featured worldwide, including the BBC, Serpentine Gallery, the Design Museum in London, Dia Art Foundation in New York, and Istanbul Design Biennial.
