Somerset House Studios + Google Arts and Culture launch n-Dimensions, the first “remote” artist-in-residence program launched outside of the Google Arts and Culture Lab in Paris. A programme for an artist working with Machine Learning, this 4 month residency offers Somerset House Studio space, mentoring from Google Arts and Culture Lab engineers and Somerset House Studio resident Memo Akten, and access to the Lab in Paris.

Applications are invited from artists already experimenting with machine learning to develop a project with support from Google Arts and Culture Lab. Joining the Somerset House Studios community with a dedicated studio space for up to 4 months, the residency will work towards developing a machine learning project to be published online within the Somerset House Studios programme. Where artworks are not designed to live primarily online, the process and outcomes will be documented and the resulting film shared as a project outcome.

Eligibility
This opportunity is open to artists of all ages, at any point in their career. Though a mentor is provided alongside technical expertise from Google Arts and Culture Lab, the artist must have experience of working with machine learning, and be capable of delivering a finished project by the end of the residency period. It is envisioned as a two month full time residency, but allows flexibility for the artist to pursue other projects and work around the residency with an extended studio space for a total of four months.
Both new projects and projects in development but not yet completed are eligible. Candidates will be selected based on the strength of their project as well as their ability to deliver, and a demonstration that the residency will be beneficial.
