Since the release of his second feature Involuntary in 2008, Östlund has built a reputation as a creator of intricate moral comedies that explore human foibles and fallibility. His 2015 BAFTA nominee Force Majeure, following a family ski-trip that goes disastrously ‘off-piste’, brought his work to a wider audience, and now his new film The Square cements his position as one of Europe’s most exciting directors, having won the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Ruben joins us for this special on-stage interview on the night of The Square’s UK premiere at Somerset House.
