Phoebe Davies’ practice is defined by its location and context, investigating and exploring how people can challenge their social framework. Her outcomes take the form of constructed social spaces, live performances, video, audio and print works. Often she works with and in response to individuals and communities, generating work through collaboration and collective action.
She co-facilitates the Bedfellows collective, a hot-blooded research project with artists Chloe Cooper and Jenny Moore advocating for life-long and inclusive sex education, currently investigating sexual identities, desire, consent and feminist porn. As part of the Freeparty she produces work with Sam Trotman, developing social justice and environmental projects working with artists, organisers, designers, environmental campaigners, activists and educators. From 2013 to 2015 Sam and Phoebe produced the OOTO Places programme for Creative People and Places (Medway and Swale, Kent).
Recent projects have led her to work with farmers, house DJs, elderly care home residents, schools, and arts spaces and institutions including DKUK Salon, Tate Modern, Serpentine Gallery, Arnolfini, Bergen Assembly the Art and Social Practice MFA at Portland State University and SA-UK SEASONS in Johannesburg. Phoebe is an Artsadmin artist and was the Social Practice Fellow on the British Council’s International Cultural Exchange US Program in 2015.

During her residency Phoebe focused on developing her research practice across Bedfellows, Freeparty and her work with dance artist Nandi Bhebhe. She explored methodologies for disrupting hegemonic power structures, forming relationships of solidarity and support structures and investigating the role of physical and verbal intimacies through performance.
