Inviting artists from across the community to screen their work and research, Home Movies highlights the range of filmmaking practices in development at Somerset House Studios. Varying in theme and discipline, each film series takes an expanded screening format, with space for critical conversation, listening and readings.
The first series of Home Movies is curated by Studios artists Kadeem Oak, Onyeka Igwe and Deborah-Joyce Holman. Exploring the theme of archives, discussions range from the colonial origins of botany, the potential of silence in acts of documentation, and the histories of Black women filmmakers.
