UK Black Pride is Europe's largest celebration for LGBTQ+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, and Latin American descent. Founded in 2005, the organisation serves as a vital platform for celebrating intersectional identities and fostering a sense of belonging. Its mission is to create safe spaces that honour diverse sexualities, gender identities, gender expressions, and cultural heritage. Through its annual celebration during Pride Month and a variety of activities throughout the year, UK Black Pride uplifts the voices of marginalised communities and advocates for their spiritual, emotional, and intellectual well-being year-round.
The organisation is excited to be a part of The Making a Rukus exhibition at Somerset House, which celebrates the work of Black LGBTQ+ pioneers and artists since the 1970s. UK Black Pride invites the community to celebrate a night of visibility, resilience, and joy, honoring Topher Campbell and the incredible work and dedication poured into creating such an impressive body of work.
The event will feature a special DJ set by GIN, Founder of Faggamuffin and UK Black Pride's Nightlife Liaison. Attendees can expect to hear Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Reggaeton, Afrobeats, R&B mashups & Hip-Hop classics, with some unexpected remixes thrown in.
