Somerset House Studios’ experimental sound, music, and performance series, Assembly, returns for the first time in four years with a multi-day programme from 20-23 March 2024. Featuring a series of new commissions, collaborations, and live premieres, many of which have been developed in residence at the Studios, Assembly puts sound in dialogue with other artistic disciplines and experiments with form.

Assembly presents work from Bríghde Chaimbeul with Maëva Berthelot and Temitope Ajose, Nkisi with Joshua Woolford, Chuquimamani-Condori, Prem Sahib, Dis Fig, Lord Tusk, Zein Majali, exlRuth, Vivienne Griffin with Úna Monaghan, Shamica Ruddock, Félicia Atkinson, Mark Leckey, Elaine Mitchener, Shenece Oretha and more.

The 2024 programme features a new partnership with the Roberts Institute of Art, and a number of works will travel internationally to festivals including Rewire in the Hague and Edinburgh Art Festival.

All talks are free to attend with any Saturday ticket, including tickets for individual performances.

 

NOT STRICTLY SPEAKING: ASSEMBLY PODCAST SERIES

A three-part podcast series exploring different manifestations of the voice in response to the Assembly programme. Underpinned by a new sound commission from French composer Felicia Atkinson, each episode follows an artist featured in the 2024 programme as they unpack the power of the voice beyond speech, in dialogue with a number of guests.
