Upgrade Yourself, Somerset House's creative skills programme aimed at deepening and widening engagement, looks to remove barriers and increase representation in the cultural sector, with a focus on young aspiring and emerging creative talent.
Taking place across three unique connected spaces at Somerset House – Embankment Galleries, the Screening Room and the Great Arch Hall, each ticket will include:
- After-hours entry to The Horror Show!
- Upgrade Yourself Live - creative careers advice, carving your own space and Q+A with exhibition contributors and artists
- An invite to the Upgrade Yourself Social – DJs, drinks and networking in the Great Arch Hall
Programme
18.30 – your ticket allows access to The Horror Show! exhibition from 18.30-21.00. You are welcome to enter as often as you like in this time and we encourage you to sink into the entire event and come through to the adjacent Screening room and Great Arch Hall for talks and the Upgrade Yourself Social.
19.00-22.00 – The Upgrade Yourself Social in the Great Arch Hall will be open with with sounds provided by E1 resident DJ and eclectic selector LO-LOW, bar and chilled activations to encourage connections with likeminded creatives. We’ll be bringing through industry experts, exhibition contributors and Somerset House residents from the creative community who are up for connecting and sharing advice for the next generation of creative talent.
19.30 – Upgrade Yourself Live in the Screening Room – this talk and Q+A covers how to carve a space of your own and offers advice for aspiring and emerging artists with Jenkin Van Zyl (spaces limited, first come, first served)
