For beautiful buys for the home this Christmas which make a positive difference, Somerset House launches Studios Editions, an exciting new collection of limited edition prints from Somerset House Studios’ pioneering resident community of artists, makers, and thinkers. All proceeds after production will go directly to support these independent artists, as well as the next generation of early career creatives, providing bursaries and financial relief to artists who couldn’t otherwise afford to be in residence, particularly throughout the pandemic.
Studios Editions features new and rare prints from over 20 participating resident artists including Gareth Pugh, Akinola Davies Jr, Charles Jeffrey, Lawrence Lek, Laura Grace Ford, Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg, Florence Peake and more. Each high-quality archival giclée A2 print is limited to a run of 100 and comes hand-numbered with a signed letter of authenticity from the artist. For a special gift, or something a little different to decorate the home, Studios Editions offers an affordable opportunity to purchase exclusive works from some of today’s most exciting established and emerging artists and designers.
Priced at £125, all proceeds from the sales of Studios Editions after production will be split equally between the artists and Somerset House’s Young Talent Fund, an initiative created to support artist bursaries and Somerset House’s creative careers programme, which offers careers advice and paid work placements for young people starting out in the creative industries. As live cultural events have been cancelled and postponed throughout the year, many artists have seen their income disappear overnight, whilst young people wanting to get into the creative sector face fresh barriers and anxiety as youth unemployment rises. Somerset House is an independent charity which also does not receive regular public funding for these projects, so as well as being unique and original, the prints are one of this Christmas’ most supportive gifts.
