WADADLI Days and Nights will transform our iconic courtyard into an old-school sound system block party, filling it with the unique voices, incredible food and irresistible sounds of Black Britain.
Andi Oliver presents a two-day pop-up of her celebrated WADADLI Kitchen, serving up the authentic taste of the Caribbean with flavour, colour and spice from across the islands. Expect wonderful grilled meat, fish and vegan delicacies including scotch bonnet salt fries, salt fish fritters, Wadadli BBQ chicken, tamarind glazed tofu and exciting creations such as her chocolate curry goat rotis.
Sat 15 Jun features Feminine Bass, an all-female DJ line-up sharing bass culture through the female gaze. DJs will include Ruby Savage, Freeky Reeky, Alex Rita (NTS), Bossy LDN (NTS) and Caya Sound, Mangrove Steel Band will be playing and the evening wraps up with a back-to-back session of Neneh and Andi playing the tunes that have shaped them over the past five decades.
Sun 16 Jun is Solution Sunday, as festival and Carnival favourites Solution Sound System bring their roots reggae sounds, with special MC performances and the Mangrove Steel Band to the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court for the perfect summer Sunday cook out. Paul and Mark Solution will be on selection duties while Neville Grooves, MC Poizon and Deemas J take care of the mic.
Other highlights over the weekend include special performances by up coming UK talent such as The Fedz and Celeste, plus there’s an extra special guest from Jamaica on Sunday.
A music and audiobook library will be a space for visitors of all generations and backgrounds to listen to excerpts of music and text navigating the Black British Caribbean experience over the last 50 years. A living archival phenomenon, you'll be invited to curate your own responses to the audio you experience to contribute to a lasting record of these events.
