Attendees at our March Meet the Creative Industries Drop-In Creative Job Studio (General theme) had the opportunity to chat face to face with people working in the arts, gain first-hand experience of their own career development, learn about the different roles within arts organisations and seek advice for their own creative career. People were encouraged to bring their CVs and business cards..
As well as our networking, we had Hebe Foster delivering X2 Year Here workshops.
Crowdfund London gives you the opportunity to pitch new ideas - big or small - for community-led projects to make your local area even better. The Mayor wants to back the best crowdfunding campaigns with pledges of up to £50K. Projects could create a cultural feature or a beautiful new green space, improve or establish a street market for local artists, give a new lease of life to an unloved space - opening it up for studios and workshops… the more innovative the better!

Year Here warmly invite you participate in our Crowdfund London Hackathon - a 45-minute ideation workshop which will take you through some fun, fast paced activities to help you develop feasible project plans and explore the transferable skills you can gain along the way - social media, budgeting, leadership and community engagement.
Creative industry biographies
Jamie Lewis Hadley is an artist, director and mentor. He uses his experience as a former professional wrestler and the profession of barbering as the two main departure points for his creative practice. Predominantly acknowledged for his provocative performance work, he also directs and curates CUT Festival – a festival exploring barbering as a historically and socially significant area of artistic interest. Parallel to his professional arts practice, he is a manager at two major public galleries in London: The Institute of Contemporary Arts and Science Gallery London. As well as providing a steady income between funding and commissions, the latter role provides the opportunity to learn about the day to day running of a large gallery, managing a variety of people, and the opportunity to network and learn from industry professional across the creative sector.
Harry Leek is the Studio Assistant for Somerset House Studios. He studied Photography at Camberwell College of Art and has previously worked for private and public art institutions such as White Cube, Whitechapel Gallery and Bold Tendencies. He has a demonstrated history working within the arts industry, especially within visitor service and administration. He maintains an artistic practice when possible, working within technology and installation.
Stella Sideli is a curator, researcher and producer based in London (UK) and Palermo (IT). She completed her postgraduate studies at Goldsmiths College in Critical Theory and Practice (Cultural Studies), with prior training in communication and semiotics, while curating exhibitions at Tenderpixel in London for more than four years. She then started working with Somerset House Studios in London in February 2018. Her research focuses on the shapeshifting meaning of materiality in the current ultra-connected human condition, with attention to images and sound; she’s also exploring the processes of subjectivation within techno- and semio-capitalism. Upcoming projects include: Performance events commission, every year for 3 years in Palermo IT, with Modern Art Gallery (GAM). First cycle of events during Manifesta Biennial, Palermo, June 2018: The Distance is Nowhere, with Paul Maheke, Sophie Mallett.

Year Here recruits people who are driven to tackle society's toughest problems. Placed for five months in care homes, hostels and youth services across London, Fellows learn from the people hit hardest by inequality. With this insight, and the support of our faculty, they work to build solutions that are creative and robust, working towards the creation of their own social enterprise by the end of the programme. Fellows are trained in business, analytical, design and innovation skills and gain a huge network throughout the social, policy, design and consultancy sectors, preparing you for a career running your own business, or in a governmental, NGO or social sector role elsewhere.
