Design Sprints have become a common process in Design, Technology, and Business as a way of taking a new idea to market - but they have humble roots. Rachel Ilan Simpson is a Senior Designer who has led over 20 Design Sprints with startups, NGOs, and at Google. Rachel will demystify their origins in music, games, and via agencies like IDEO. She will talk about where Google's Sprint process comes from, and touch on the differences between the internal process and the Google Ventures Sprint (tailored for Startups). Participants will have an opportunity to try hands-on exercises from the Google Ventures playbook.
Rachel Ilan Simpson is a Senior Designer with 7+ years in the field, working with award-winning Design Agencies, ground-breaking Startups, and for the last 5 years with the Google (Chrome and Search). She has worked with clients and collaborators like Seth Godin, BMW/DriveNow, Google Duo, Doctors without Borders, and Freeletics.
She also leads Design Sprints, events which create and test solutions for critical organizational problems in less than one week. Her Sprints have helped Doctors Without Borders drive organizational change, and transformed how Chrome approaches translation. She has spoken about design at 30+ events in 7 different countries.
