The performance – conflating video projection and live spoken text - is generated by extracts of Ford’s new sound work of the same name; a three episode audio commission for Somerset House Studios responding to the psychic and emotional contours of the city.
A sequence of photographic collages made from decades of drifts around Latimer Road, Wormwood Scrubs and the Westway will be subsumed into slow motion high definition images of CGI landscapes and projected from floor to ceiling. By submerging the voice in a terrain saturated with field recordings and fragments of found music the spectral sectors of the city are allowed to permeate the work.
Ahead of Ford’s performance, episodes of Open Your Palm, Feel the Dust Settling There will be released throughout June and available to listen to via our website and Audioboom/iTunes/RSS.
