Makerversity & Upgrade Yourself Residency: Fashion

Dates: Monday 12 - Friday 16 February 2024 (5 days)
Times: 9.30 - 17.00 daily 

Across 5 days, participants will deep dive into the Fashion industry with Makerversity member experts and tours of exciting studios based in Somerset House. Each participant will explore how to focus ideas; pattern cut & built; materials & manufacturing; build a portfolio and the importance of sustainability for future facing brands.

Makerversity Experts

CQ STUDIO
Cassie Quinn is a multi-disciplinary designer, PhD Candidate in Regenerative Textiles at Living Systems Lab, Central Saint Martins and is the founder of CQ Studio, which she founded during her Master’s in Biodesign from Central Saint Martins. She conducts R&D of regenerative textiles for fashion.

ANTHONY PRINCI
Fashion Designer based in London. Anthony has a range of fashion experience spanning Australia, London and Paris in roles such as fashion event management; tailoring, various assistant and intern roles in design; private fashion design tutoring then going on to specialise in print/embroidery design alongside business and product development for small and start-up brands.

NIMESH GADHIA
With 20 years experience in the fashion industry, Nim has worked as a menswear designer with a wide range of brands within the UK including River Island and Ozwald Boateng. For the last 10 years, he lived in Amsterdam where he specialised in denim and workwear with brands such as GSTAR and Scotch&Soda. Now back in London, Nim is pursuing a sustainable upcycling concept brand (Out of Stock Studio) while freelancing as a design consultant and hosting regular garment-masterclasses

SHANTI BELL
As a multidisciplinary artist, wearable sculpture practitioner, and maker, Shanti’s creative journey revolves around crafting expressive and resonant, moments and experiences which are authentic and a reflection of life. She engages with various mediums including: sound, performance, sculpture, furniture, and wearable art using a blend of materials such as wood, metal, and fabric. She recently completed an MA in Fashion at the Royal College of Art as a British Fashion Council Scholar. Prior to this attending Central Saint Martins studying Fashion: Print.
